Higher Level Teaching Assistant

Contract:               Part time, Permanent
                                    Tuesday to Thursday 8.15am to 4pm
                                    21.75 hours per week term time only plus training days

Salary:                     NJC 4A (points 11-15)

Closing date:      10am on Tuesday 16th July 2024

The Role

As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA), you will assume a pivotal role in our educational team, collaborating closely with teachers to deliver engaging learning activities to entire classes while also providing targeted support to specific groups and individuals. This position offers an exceptional opportunity for a proactive and motivated candidate who excels in using their initiative to assess and evaluate the needs of pupils. Your primary goal will be to identify and overcome barriers to learning, ensuring that every pupil has the opportunity to reach their full potential.

We are seeking a dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) who can fulfil the following key responsibilities:

  • Collaboration and Support: Work closely with teaching staff to enhance the delivery of education, assisting in the entire planning cycle and managing/preparing resources. Your role will be crucial in complementing teachers' efforts to create effective learning environments.
  • Pupil Support: Provide tailored support to all students, including those with Special Educational Needs (SEN), English as an Additional Language (EAL), Gifted and Talented (GT) students, and other underachieving groups. Your aim will be to raise standards of achievement across the board, ensuring every student receives the assistance they need to succeed.

  • Promoting Independent Learning: Utilise your skills to empower students to become independent learners. Foster an environment where students are motivated to take ownership of their learning journey.

  • Pupil Welfare and Inclusion: Support the welfare of students, ensuring their well-being is prioritised. Promote and facilitate the inclusion of all students in every aspect of school life, fostering a supportive and inclusive school community.

Requirements

Passion for working with children and supporting their learning and development.

Ability to work collaboratively within a team and follow the guidance of teaching staff.

Experience in supporting children, ideally within an educational setting.

ยท        HLTA training or a teaching qualification.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
