About this Role

The Pines School is seeking a committed and outstanding teacher with experience of Autism and complex needs who is also ready to take on a curriculum and assessment leadership role.

This post combines high-quality classroom practice with the responsibility of leading aspects of the curriculum and assessment, as part of a team (TLR2), providing an exciting opportunity to contribute directly to whole-school improvement, within a specialist ASC setting.

About The Pines School

The Pines is an all-age, ASC-specific maintained Foundation Special School and part of the Birmingham Special Schools Cooperative Trust. All pupils have an EHCP and a diagnosis of Autism.

We currently have 290 pupils on role, all of whom have an EHCP and a diagnosis of Autism

We are looking for committed and outstanding teachers with ASC experience to be part of our team to plan, develop and work within our school supporting pupils at the early stages of learning. Experience of working with pupils with Autism and significant learning disabilities is essential.

The Role

Alongside your responsibilities as a class teacher, you will:

· Provide strategic leadership for curriculum coherence and assessment consistency across a small number of allocated subjects (up to four)

· Work collaboratively with SLT and Subject Leads to refine curriculum frameworks and assessment approaches

· Demonstrate leadership potential, including experience of leading or contributing to initiatives beyond their own classroom.

· Support the development of bespoke assessment systems aligned to pupils’ learning pathways and EHCP outcomes

· Collate and moderate evidence of pupil progress to support evaluation and self-review

· Model high-quality classroom practice and engaging in professional dialogue, supporting colleagues and contributing to whole-school improvement

· Support subject leaders with resource and budget oversight

All leadership responsibilities will be undertaken within the remit of the TLR2 and supported through appropriate time and professional development.
