About this Role

The Premises Assistant plays a key role in supporting the safe, efficient and effective operation of the school site during the mid‑afternoon to early evening period. Reporting to the Premises Manager, the post-holder will contribute to the maintenance, security and general upkeep of the school’s buildings and grounds, ensuring that the environment remains safe, clean and well-presented for pupils, staff and visitors.

Due to the nature of the working hours, the Premises Assistant will often work independently and must therefore demonstrate initiative, practical problem-solving skills and a sound working knowledge of premises maintenance. The role requires the ability to respond promptly to issues as they arise, carry out routine checks, and ensure that the site is prepared for after-school activities and secured at the end of the day.

A key aspect of the role includes the regular driving of the school minibus to support school activities, and the daily bus service. The post-holder must therefore hold a clean, valid driving licence and be confident in transporting pupils safely and responsibly in accordance with school policies and legal requirements.

Overall, the Premises Assistant will provide reliable and proactive support to the Premises Manager, helping to ensure that the school site operates smoothly and continues to provide a safe and welcoming environment for the whole school community.

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. The health, safety and well-being of all our pupils are of paramount importance to all the staff at Kew College Prep. We are committed to providing an environment in which children feel welcomed, safe, valued and respected. Adults in our school know that keeping children safe is everybody’s responsibility and that all children, regardless of age, gender, culture, language, race, ability, sexual identity, religion or lack of religion have equal rights to protection and opportunities. We expect all of our employees to mirror and demonstrate this commitment.

To ensure that we comply with our Safeguarding commitment and responsibility, the school will undertake all necessary vetting checks, pre and post interview, including an enhanced DBS check, internet checks, teaching prohibition checks, references, right to work in the UK and medical fitness.
