About Macintyre Charity

Established in 1966 by Kenneth Newton Wright, the parent of a disabled child, MacIntyre has grown to become a leading national charity, highly respected and committed to setting standards and increasing choice.

We provide learning, support and care for more than 1,200 children, young people and adults who have a learning disability and/or autism at locations across England and Wales.

MacIntyre has been providing a range of integrated services for children and young people since we opened our first school in 1966.

We now operate highly specialist education for children and young people with learning disabilities and autism. Our facilities include a residential school in Buckinghamshire, a community-based children’s home, and further education programmes across seven locations, delivered in partnership with local Colleges.

Our vision is for all people with a learning disability and/or autism to live a life that makes sense to them. We are very proud of what we have achieved since we were founded in 1966 and of our distinctive characteristics that have defined everything that we have done during this time.
