We are a wonderful primary learning difficulties (LD) special school based in Letchworth, North Hertfordshire, on a well-maintained site with extensive grounds

I am very proud to be headteacher of Woolgrove School and am delighted to offer you a warm welcome to our school. We are a primary special academy for children aged 4 to 11 years with Learning Difficulties as a main presenting need.

All the pupils at Woolgrove are working at a cognitive level significantly below other children of the same age and many of them have complex needs such as autistic spectrum disorder (ASD) and speech and language communication needs (SLCN). All the children have Education Health Care Plans (EHCPs) and our maximum capacity is for 125 children. Children can join us at any point in their education and our classes are arranged in pathways to enable us to personalise the provision to meet the children's individual needs.

We value every child and every member of staff. All staff are offered a thorough induction, ongoing support throughout their probationary period and beyond, access to our employee assistance programme and free tea, coffee and refreshments. In addition, the children finish at 2pm every Friday to enable an hour of staff training - every week! We truly believe that a happy workforce is essential to the running of a successful school.

We’re on the lookout for enthusiastic, adaptable, and slightly magical people to join our team — people who can turn challenges into opportunities, and who understand that “progress” sometimes looks like trying a new food for the first time, a smile, or successfully transitioning from one part of the school to another.
