About Weston Favell Academy

Weston Favell Academy in Northampton is part of the Greenwood Academies Trust (GAT), a ‘not for profit’ organisation formed in 2009.  With currently 37 open academies, GAT provides education to 19,000 pupils across 7 local authority areas including Nottingham City, Nottinghamshire, Leicester City, Northamptonshire, Peterborough and Lincolnshire.

Led by Todd Johnson, Senior Executive Principal, and Kieron Beeby, Head of School, the Academy recently celebrated its Ofsted 'Good' judgement and is going from strength to strength. The Academy is located on the outskirts of Northampton with good road links in the area and is conveniently placed with the town centre only 5.3 miles away, the M1 junction 7 miles away, and London only an hour away.

  • An effective induction process supported by the Trust People Directorate
  • A Staff Handbook providing valuable information dedicated to the Academy
  • Innovative approach to staffing and timetabling that gives teaching staff at least one PPA off-site per week at the start or the end of the day to support wellbeing and workload
  • Regular twilight CPD sessions and a range of professional learning opportunities across the Trust
  • Staff calendar published at the beginning of the academic year featuring all deadlines and events
  • Protocol for emails and communication to protect time outside school
  • Effective line management structure and SLT open door policy to support communication and transparency
  • Staffrooms stocked with tea, coffee, milk and sugar conveniently located across the site to enable to staff to enjoy refreshments even on the quickest of breaks!
  • A coffee van visits every Wednesday for staff to purchase drinks to mark the mid-point of the week.  Staff also enjoy a complimentary drink on their birthday
  • Fully equipped fitness suite – free and available to staff from 6am to 7.30am and 4.10pm to 6pm Monday to Friday during normal term time with a training partner
  • Our on-site swimming pool is free to use and available to staff from 6am to 7.30am Monday to Friday during normal term time, with limited access from 3.10pm due to external clubs taking place
  • Reports are produced in a timely manner so they reflect current progress with a clear tracker system
  • The Academy has an active rewards system where pupils receive achievement points for being kind, demonstrating our values and attitude to learning.  Pupils use their points to purchase items from the rewards shop and can also achieve top awards (such as a BMX bike, AirPods, rugby tickets… and lots more) in our termly attendance draw
  • The Academy has an embedded and effective behaviour system that allows teachers to deliver learning to pupils
  • The Academy is proud to have a full-time on-site qualified Counsellor to support pupils via internal referrals
  • Complimentary Christmas dinner for staff to join pupils in enjoying the festivities
  • Buffet for staff supporting at parents’ evenings, open evenings and other evening events
  • Breakfast for all staff on trainings days
  • Free annual flu jab available to all staff
  • Free, ample on-site parking available to staff and visitors
  • Termly staff attendance awards and channel for colleagues to offer appreciation to each other
  • Social events arranged by the Staff Wellbeing Lead providing regular opportunities for colleagues to enjoy relaxed time together in a fun environment
  • Attractive environment with open green spaces
