About Western Primary School

Welcome to Western Primary School. Our vision, underpinned by our values of kindness, honesty and respect, is to develop kind, ambitious, curious, confident and successful young people who are excited about their futures.

Where success is concerned, it is important to nurture and celebrate success in all its forms. Whilst achievement in the more academic subjects is desirable, success in sport, art, music, drama and other areas also needs to be encouraged, valued and celebrated. We also believe that it is important to prepare children for an increasingly digital world and workplace; as a 1-2-1 iPad school, we are proud to have achieved Apple Distinguished School status.

One of the prime aims of any school is to promote learning, but we all know that children learn best when they are happy, healthy and feel valued and cared for. At Western, we pay attention to these details by supporting our pupils’ wellbeing and by working in close partnership with parents and carers to ensure children are ready and able to access their learning and development so that all children in our school reach their full potential.

As a school, we often refer to the Western community rather than Western school, as that is a much better description of what has been built up over many years. All of our cooleagues, governors, pupils and their families are integral parts of that community.

Western Primary School is part of Red Kite Learning Trust, a multi academy of 16 schools across North and West Yorkshire. Our Trust mission is to ensure the best possible outcomes for those in our care by nurturing ambition, delivering excellence and enriching children’s lives. This is made possible by the talent and commitment of the people we employ.

We value every one of our colleagues, whether they are teachers or part of our support or operational teams. Each individual colleague plays an important role in helping us to achieve our goals, for our school and in our Trust.
