Vision

At West Witney Primary School and Nursery, we envision a vibrant, safe and inclusive learning environment that ignites the curiosity and passion for learning in every child. Our commitment is to nurture a community of children that are respectful, resilient and kind individuals.

Children’s unique abilities are nurtured and all are encouraged to go far beyond their potential. We have open minded, supportive and enthusiastic children that relish a challenge and continuously look to improve. Time is taken to understand behaviour and all staff members of West Witney build strong relationships that are founded in trust. Children learn in a kind and caring environment. Teaching pedagogy is informed by research and evidence so that children receive the highest quality education that is adapted to their needs. Teachers are constantly re-thinking and questioning their teaching and learning so that every child is provided a challenging and thought through learning experience.

Our aspirational curriculum is coherent, progressive and reflects the children of West Witney. We create diverse learning opportunities that provide a window into other cultures so that children are knowledgeable and respectful world citizens. Children are encouraged to take responsible risks with their learning where mistakes are celebrated as learning opportunities.

Governors and leaders have a clear vision for the school and know what needs to be done to make the vision a reality. All staff understand the direction of travel and leaders make it possible for them to be the drivers of school improvement. Leaders are a group of inspiring and influential individuals that are determined to give the children of West Witney the very best, and memorable, primary school experience. 

All staff are listened to and their dedication is recognised and appreciated by leaders and Governors. All staff support one another and model the school values in all they do. The school is a safe yet exciting place to work where robust conversations take place to support school improvement. Wellbeing and a life-work balance is not an afterthought, but a consideration in all strategic and operational decisions.
