Wembury Primary School is a nurturing, warm and inclusive school where each and every child is provided with the encouragement and care to ensure that they have the knowledge and skills to fulfil their potential and the confidence and aspiration to pursue their individual dreams. As expressed in our school motto, we believe in 'Life for Learning, Learning for Life'. The school's warmth and caring was recognised in our most recent Ofsted inspection (January 2022) where we also retained our 'Good' grading. Every staff member works to ensure that our children feel safe, happy and valued so that they thrive, making excellent progress and achieving highly.
We are very proud of the positive relationship we have with our wider community, including parents and carers and local groups, who give us great support and help us to provide a wide range of opportunities beyond the core curriculum. This positive relationship is integral to the school's success.
Our ambition for the children, which includes encouraging individual interests and talents, means that as well as ensuring our children succeed academically we provide a wide and balanced curriculum with creativity and Oracy at its heart. We also make sure that children have access to many sporting, musical and other wider opportunities, including trips and residentials.
We are fortunate to be able to use our wonderful local environment, including Wembury beach, to further enhance the children's learning as well as our fantastic school grounds. Our recently built Eco classrooms which house Foundation and Key Stage 1 have not only added positively to the pupils' learning experiences, but have freed up space within the school to enable us to have a permanent music room as well as enabling us to create more learning and nurture spaces.
When asked what they love about their school, many aspects are mentioned by the children but two things that they say again and again are that the staff are kind and caring and that they love our on site swimming pool which is used every summer by pupils from Foundation through to Year 6.
One of the joys of being a community school is that we often hear about our ex-pupils and the diverse paths that they choose and of how well they are doing. We feel very proud for them and privileged that we have been able to be just a small part of their journey: Life for Learning; Learning for Life.
Warmest wishes
