Welcome to Waterside Academy
Thank you for your interest in joining Waterside Academy. As Headteacher, I am proud to lead a dedicated and compassionate team united by our core values: inclusion, communication, aspiration, and nurture.
At Waterside Academy, we are committed to providing a truly inclusive environment where every pupil, particularly those who have been permanently excluded or are at risk of exclusion feels welcomed, respected, and supported. Our approach is grounded in open and honest communication, ensuring that pupils, families, and staff work closely together to break down barriers to learning and build trusting relationships.
Aspiration is at the heart of our work. We believe that every young person deserves the opportunity to succeed and reach their full potential, regardless of their previous experiences. Our personalised curriculum, which includes core subjects and PE up to GCSE level, a range of foundation qualifications, alternative provision, and weekly work experience placements in Year 11, is designed to inspire ambition and open doors for every pupil.
Nurture is central to our ethos. We provide a safe, caring environment where students can grow in confidence, learn to manage their emotions and behaviours, and build the skills they need for reintegration into mainstream education or transition to specialist provisions.
