About Walker Riverside Academy

A very warm welcome to Walker Riverside Academy, a fantastic school of which I am extremely proud to be the Headteacher.  

We are an 11-16 secondary school with over 1,200 students on roll, an excellent local reputation, and an ethos that epitomises the aspirations we have for our young people.


AIM HIGH
We help our students to aim high in both their academic and career aspirations, supporting them at every step and guiding them upon options available. It is the daily embodiment of this ethos that makes Walker a truly special school community. We have outstanding facilities to help the development of our students in sporting, musical, vocational, and academic fields. I would be delighted to both meet and show you first hand the wonderful academy we have here at Walker and how this would be the right choice for your child.

BE PROUD
We want our students to be proud of both themselves and the school community they attend, whilst developing a love of school life.  The investment in passionate pastoral and academic support for our young people ensures that we create an atmosphere in which we laugh and learn together. With all students being attached upon entry in Year 7 to one of three schools: Dobson, Grainger, or Stephenson, a sense of belonging and community is created from the outset.


LOVE LIFE
Just as we focus on developing our students academically, we want them to experience the joys of life. Whether that be through our varied enrichment extra-curricular options available within THE GATEWAY, the opportunity to become an Army Cadet as a member of our CCF, travel the world on one of our international visits, or enjoy the vast array of incredible attendance rewards and trips we offer half-termly, we strive to provide our students with a vast variety of exciting life experiences as we encourage them to be 'life ready with ambition'.
