Trustee
Board of Trustees
UNITY EDUCATION TRUST (UET) is looking to recruit
individuals who can give their time and expertise to join our Board of
Trustees.
As a Trustee you will help to guide UET towards being the outstanding
Trust in East Anglia. You will be contributing to society and improving the
education and opportunities for our children as well as gaining valuable
experience as a non-executive director.
UET was established in 2017 as a Multi Academy Trust with five schools.
It has grown and now operates eleven mainstream infant/primary schools, one
mainstream secondary school (including a sixth form college and
education/soccer academy), three specialist academies with schools in nine
locations across Norfolk, and a complex needs school. In all the Trust educates
nearly 3,000 pupils aged 3-19, employs about 750 staff and has an annual
turnover of £33m.
UET’s overarching aim is for our schools to provide an environment which
is welcoming, caring, calm, disciplined and purposeful, and through the ‘Unity
Way’ to stretch our young people academically, support them pastorally and help
them develop socially. We believe in allowing each of our schools to retain its
own distinct identity, firmly rooted in its local community and supported by
efficient central services and expertise.
The Trustees provide: strategic leadership of the Trust; accountability
and assurance for the operations and performance of the Trust; and strategic
oversight of relationships with stakeholders.
At present the Trust Board has 7 members, including the Chief Executive
Officer. We have a range of skills and experience including school and higher
education, management and finance. The Board has three committees: Standards;
Finance and Audit; and People, Pay and Performance. The Board and each of its
committees normally meet twice a term with attendance in person at UET’s
headquarters in Dereham or virtually, if necessary. The time commitment
averages around 8 hours per month.
We value applications from people with enthusiasm, interest, commitment
and a willingness to learn. Skills and experience in finance
would be welcome.
