The Trafalgar School at Downton is an incredibly special place serving its community on the edge of Salisbury and the New Forest. At The Trafalgar School every individual matters irrespective of background and ability. We believe in the unlimited potential of every child and have developed a well-deserved reputation for delivering high-quality teaching and learning within a caring and nurturing environment. This results in some exceptional outcomes for our students – both academic and more holistically.

We are a warm and happy school that works in partnership with our students and their families. The way we do things at Trafalgar is incredibly important to us. The emphasis on cultivating strong relationships, developing independence and having fun allows our students to flourish in an environment that is focused on learning. Our students have an array of opportunities beyond the curriculum. Music, Drama, Art, Technology and Sport provide our students with a real breadth to their learning which is complemented with a thriving extra-curricular programme.  We set high standards; respect and hard work are expected, but students are encouraged to make the most of every opportunity and to have a great deal of fun along the way.

At our heart we are a learning community and that applies to our staff and our school as much as it does to our students. We believe in continuous improvement and, as a relentlessly ambitious school, we are constantly reflecting on our practice and seeking to develop our provision.

Our school is however unique, and no website can fully capture the spirit of Trafalgar. The only way to get a feel for what we believe in and how we do things is to come for a visit and meet the people that make our school such a special place.
