About The Langley Academy Primary

Headteacher's Welcome

Welcome to The Langley Academy Primary (TLAP), part of The Arbib Education Trust. TLAP opened in September 2015 and from our first day, we have been really proud of our unique, people-centred, enriched curriculum.

About The Langley Academy Primary

The Langley Academy Primary (TLAP) is a highly sought-after, oversubscribed three-form entry school that opened its doors in 2015. Our commitment to putting children first drives our exceptional teaching practices, tailored to help every child thrive and achieve their fullest potential. This dedication has shaped us into a thriving, successful community. TLAP is a nurturing and vibrant school, thoughtfully designed to ignite curiosity and inspire a lifelong love of learning.

The Langley Academy Primary Ethos

At The Langley Academy Primary, we recognise that every child learns differently, and our teaching approaches reflects this. Central to our ethos is the strong sense of community, affectionately known as the TLAP family, where staff, pupils, and parents collaborate to foster inclusivity and support. This approach cultivates happy, safe, resilient, and confident pupils—qualities frequently praised by educational visitors. Children develop the skills and mindset to thrive in any situation, knowing they can achieve their ambitions. Our success since opening is a testament to this ethos.

Values

Guided by our core values of: Family; Brilliance; Respect; Independence; Courage; Kindness; we aim to enrich every pupil’s life.

Equality, Diversity and Inclusion:

At TLAP, we place great emphasis on ensuring children are proud of their background (culture, race, religion, family) so that they can excel. We value each and every child and their family. We celebrate our differences, as through diversity, we find strength.

We work to ensure that every child feels valued and sees themselves positively represented through aspects of school life. We believe that ‘you can’t be, what you can’t see.’ Through our curriculum and inclusive approach, we build a sense of pride, acceptance, and genuine respect for the different ways each of us live our lives.

 Curriculum and Museum Learning

Through a child-centred, inquiry-based curriculum, we build on each child’s interests, fostering meaningful learning experiences that nurtures lifelong learners ready to succeed in an ever-evolving 21st-century world. We want each child to display ‘Curiosity, Exploration and Discovery’ so that they can ‘be the best they can be.’

Curiosity

We nurture natural curiosity by creating environments where children are encouraged to explore and ask questions.

Exploration

Children are encouraged to use resources and artefacts to investigate ideas and explore possible solutions to their ideas to make meaningful, child-led discovery.

Discovery

Through critical thinking and guided questioning, children interpret their experiences and make sense of new discoveries to develop deeper understanding and learning.

Our museum learning approach uses real objects, real-life experiences, and immersive activities to make learning purposeful and memorable. Our innovative curriculum fosters personal, social, emotional, and intellectual growth while deepening understanding through hands-on experiences. This learning approach is proven to be effective, leading children to gain knowledge quickly and confidently.

 Ofsted

The Langley Academy Primary was rated ‘Outstanding’ in 2018, with an ungraded inspection in June 2024. Inspectors highlights the broad, exciting, and ambitious curriculum, which fosters a love of learning and curiosity through the innovative "museum learning" approach. Reading is identified as a cornerstone of the school, with staff determined to instil strong literacy skills and a love for books in all pupils. The school is also commended for teaching diversity and discrimination in an age-appropriate manner, encouraging students to challenge stereotypes and celebrate differences with maturity and respect.

 Arbib Education Trust Vision

We aim to provide an exceptional education through collaboration, high expectations and learning which prompts curiosity, exploration, and discovery. We want our work in “the Arbib way” to be characterised by a determination to discover ways of succeeding. We work as a single community of schools sharing many ideas and investing in the future of every child and student in partnership with their families.

‘One community. Many ideas. Everyone’s Future’

What we can offer you….

The health and wellbeing of our staff is of utmost importance to us. We recognise that all of our colleagues have a life outside our school community. To support this, as part of our wider wellness programme we offer a wide range of benefits. Here are a few of the many things we offer:

Flexible working – a bespoke ‘Extra Flex’ scheme offers flexibility on when and where you work, as well as part time and job share options.

Trustee day – a term time day to attend an event you wouldn’t ordinarily be able to attend. For example, one of our teachers who is fanatical about tennis went to Wimbledon and others have had the opportunity to celebrate their birthdays at Glastonbury, Henley Regatta and Alton Towers.

Private Healthcare Scheme, cycle to work scheme, free use of The Langley Academy gym and hire of the sports hall at a discounted rate to help support a healthy lifestyle.

The benefits don’t end there though.  Please see our brochure below to see the full range of amazing benefits we offer.
