The Icknield
Primary School
Our
vision is to build a community of collaboration where diversity is valued and
everyone is encouraged to succeed. Through education we aim to unlock a
brighter future, broaden horizons and show our children that the world is
theirs to explore. In doing so, we enable everyone to be ambitious for a
lifetime of learning.
We
expect our children to be ready; to be respectful and to be safe.
Everyone
is valued in our school and there is opportunity for all. We recognise that all
parents and carers are ambitious for their children and together we thrive and
achieve together.
We
are a caring and inclusive community and promote our values of being:
- Honest
- Caring
- Together
- Inclusive
- Unique
- Creative
- Confident
We
provide exciting and engaging learning experiences, which enable all children
to become active and effective learners who achieve their very best.
These
values allow us to help develop pupils’ understanding of their responsibilities
as members of a community, encouraging a positive, respectful and caring
attitude towards others & the environment.
Most
importantly, at The Icknield Primary School, we create a nurturing environment
which supports the well-being of every pupil and which enables children to
learn how to manage their emotions and develop positive and fulfilling
relationships.
The
Icknield Primary School is in Sawston, a large village a few miles south of
Cambridge.
We
are a one form entry community school which has 200 children.
Ofsted came in 2018 and judged us as to be a ‘Good’ school in
every area, stating the ‘School
leadership has been effective in bringing about improvements in the quality of
teaching and in pupils’ outcomes. The quality of teaching is now good and
pupils make good progress in reading, writing and mathematics.’
Our children leave school happy and ready to take the next
step on their lifelong educational journey.
