Welcome to The Hendreds C of E School

There has been a school in the village since 1860, with the current site in use since 1967, and today we serve the villages of Lockinge, Ardington, Ginge, West and East Hendred, as well as Rowstock. 

Our vision ‘Value who we are and who we can become’ places the holistic development of every individual in the school at the heart of what we do. This is a truly inclusive school. With approximately 140 children on roll, The Hendreds School has an authentic family feel. The children and adults all know each other incredibly well. 

Every interaction is important in a child’s development. We delight in working with each year’s reception cohort of ‘Tiddlers’ and in supporting the children as they develop and grow through their years here. Our Year 6s play a vital part in leading the children at the school. They support the younger children at play times and in the lunch hall, and take a lead role in speaking during collective worship and at church services. As the most experienced children in the school, they form the school council. Throughout their time at the school, our children develop a love of learning, a sense of self and social responsibility.         

Our teachers plan a broad and inspiring topic-based curriculum, with English and mathematics at the centre of our curriculum. Children experience a wide range of academic, artistic and sporting activities in their learning that allows them all to find ways in which they can excel.  

The Hendreds School is a very special place.
