The Galfrid School is a one-form entry primary school for children aged 4-11, nurturing both the heads and hearts of pupils in the Abbey community. We were delighted to be judged a Good school in our first inspection in October 2023, with inspectors praising the significant progress we have made in taking the school from strength to strength. We pride ourselves on being inclusive, showing courage, being kind and never giving up.
The school is part of United Learning’s cluster in Cambridge, working closely with neighbouring schools Cambridge Academy for Science and Technology, Coleridge Community College, Parkside Community College and Trumpington Community College. This collaboration allows us to share expertise, access to joint services, and enrich the educational experience for all.
For staff, this approach helps to streamline processes and manage workloads effectively, supporting excellent outcomes while promoting a healthy work-life balance, allowing us to support and invest in our staff more effectively.
Our vision is to ensure that all children feel a strong sense of belonging in a safe, respectful and supportive environment, enabling them to develop and thrive within our school, the local community, and the wider world.
We:
Provide children with an engaging, inspiring and rewarding education.
Deliver a broad and balanced curriculum.
Encourage a sense of wonder about the world around them.
Support children to achieve their full potential and help others to achieve theirs.
Respect all cultural backgrounds and beliefs.
Foster a thirst for learning through a wide range of enrichment opportunities.
Maintain strong and positive connections with parents, carers and the local community.
Equip children with the fundamental skills to become lifelong learners.
Instil a love of learning.
Our values are underpinned by a strong moral purpose and a commitment to doing what is right for children. We support colleagues to act with integrity in the pursuit of excellence.
The Galfrid School is situated in the historic Abbey area in the south-east of Cambridge, within walking distance of the River Cam and the city centre.
