Leftwich
The County High School Leftwich is a high
performing, fully inclusive, co-educational, 11-16 school with approximately 1050
students, 60 teaching and 60 support staff. The school serves a mixed
catchment area with a Published Admission Number of 210, and we are now
significantly over-subscribed.
The school is a safe and calm, inclusive and positive community and workplace. Students enjoy and achieve during their time at this school. Students are motivated, engaged, and eager to learn, creating a rewarding teaching experience where staff can truly make a difference. They leave as rounded individuals, aware of the wider-world, ready to make a positive contribution and fully equipped to flourish having maximised their academic potential.
The County High School Leftwich is an easy commute from a variety of villages, towns and cities in the North West. Our staff travel from all over Cheshire, Chester, Manchester, Liverpool, Warrington, Runcorn, North Wales and Staffordshire.
The school strives to ensure that colleagues are motivated, happy, supported and derive satisfaction from their role. Staff wellbeing is a priority, with a positive working environment, supportive leadership, and initiatives to help maintain a healthy work-life balance. All teaching staff having a lower-than-average teaching commitment on their timetable. All staff have a voice, ensuring they are consulted on change and can share any concerns and ideas through the Leftwich Consultative Group (LCG). We are signed up to the salary sacrifice Childcare Voucher scheme, for colleagues with a family.
At The County High School, Leftwich, there is a strong tradition of high-quality induction and continuing professional development alongside a collaborative teaching environment meaning the post can be adapted to suit someone new to the profession or equally an established practitioner. Teachers are encouraged to bring fresh ideas to the classroom, supported by modern resources, a personal laptop, and a forward-thinking approach to education.

The school’s curriculum is broad, balanced and aspirational and promotes the enjoyment of learning whilst motivating students to gain the knowledge, skills and qualifications which enable all to achieve excellence academically, further enriched by opportunities beyond the timetable. We ask students to focus on kindness, demonstrating this through their leadership in the classroom, their involvement in enrichment beyond the timetable and by celebrating equality, diversity and inclusion. We believe that every student’s experience of success contributes to their personal happiness and provides a strong sense of pride in belonging to our school.
In 2025 over 86% of students studied the EBacc, nearly 75% of students achieved grade 4 and above in both English and Maths and 20% of students gained at least one grade 9, maintaining the consistently successful outcomes of the school. In 2024 the school achieved a Progress 8 score of +0.59 for all students whilst it was +0.33 for 2023.
