About this Role

Accountabilities/Responsibilities – appropriate for this post:

1. Liaise with teaching staff to provide particular support to targeted pupils to raise achievement

and attendance and help them to overcome barriers to learning including nurture groups.

2. Provide input to the identification of needs, assessing those pupils needing extra support and

the development of individual action plans for targeted pupils

3. Work in a one-to-one relationship with targeted pupils to implement an action plan

4. Assist in maintaining contact with pupils’ families/carers to inform them of progress and issues

5. Provide extra support to pupils through knowledge of a range of activities and opportunities

available to them

6. Monitor and analyse data on pupil punctuality, attendance and achievement for use by other

staff.

7. Provide support and advice to pupils to promote their social care and personal development

8. Assist in resolving relationship issues between pupils

9. Supervise support packages for pupils to reintegrate them into school following periods of

exclusion / absence

10. Supervise pupils excluded from or not otherwise working to a normal timetable

11. Assist in the monitoring of individual action plans

12. To work within school policies and procedures

13. To take care of their own and other people's health and safety

Individuals in this role may also:

− Assist in home visits to support pupils and discuss issues and progress

− Take part in the provision of out of school activities

− Support the transition of pupils between phases

− Assist and resolve relationship issues between pupils

− Oversee support packages for pupils to reintegrate into school following periods of

exclusion/absences

− Manage the supervision of pupils excluded from/not otherwise working to a normal time table

− Facilitate nurture groups
