St Stephen’s Catholic Primary School and Nursery is a smaller than average sized school that is part of the Bishop Wheeler Catholic Academy Trust located in Skipton, North Yorkshire. We converted to voluntary academy status in 2015. 

• 38% of the pupils are EAL, 24% are Disadvantaged, 15% have SEND. 3 pupils have an EHCP. 
• The class structure is: Early years Foundation stage, Y1, Y2, Y3/4, Y4/5, Y6.
• The leadership structure consists of Headteacher and Deputy Head.
• The Headteacher is also the Primary Catholic Life Lead for the Bishop Wheeler Trust and a serving Catholic Schools’ Inspector .
• Attainment on entry is average for the majority of children as evidenced in the Reception Baseline.
• The school received an OFSTED Section 5 inspection in February 2022 and was graded as Good.
• The school received a S48 Diocesan inspection in October 2018 and was graded as Good. 

The school has had at least annual Trust Internal Reviews since its conversion in 2015. The reviews were carried out by other Headteachers / senior leaders within the Trust under set protocols. 

The school works in close partnership with the Bishop Wheeler school and works collaboratively with local schools through the Castle Alliance.
