St Hilda’s School was founded in 1891 and has been on the current site for over a hundred years. It is an integral part of the Harpenden community and is widely respected for its high standards and nurturing atmosphere. The original Victorian home has been extended to provide some wonderful educational spaces and the grounds include a pool, tennis court and playing field. St Hilda’s last had a full inspection by the Independent School’s Inspectorate (ISI) in October 2019.We were delighted to receive the top rating of ‘excellent’ in all areas.
St Hilda’s has approximately 140 girls aged 2.5 – 11 years, also admitting boys to the Nursery. From St Hilda’s, girls move on to the major independent schools in the area, including Abbot’s Hill, Berkhamsted, Haberdashers, and St Albans High School. Some girls move on to board at Queenswood, Haileybury or sometimes further afield, and also to some of the very successful local state sector schools. This year saw a record number of scholarships awarded to our Form VI class and our girls got their school of choice.
Harpenden is a thriving residential town between Luton and St. Albans, with close proximity to the A1(M), M1 and M25 and easy access to national rail networks, including a 30 minute service to London.
