About Shortenills
Shortenills, our secondary SEMH provision, opened in September 2021 in its current form. It was formerly an outdoor activity centre and is set within 10 tranquil acres of mixed woodland and large enclosed ponds. It is the perfect site for our nurturing, trauma-informed school for children with SEMH difficulties, using a therapeutic approach based in the ‘awe and wonder’ of nature.
The site is currently comprised of log cabins surrounded by woodland and meadow outside areas with log seating, outdoor sheds and polytunnels. We have worked hard with our staff to develop classrooms and intervention spaces, inside and outside, that support students to achieve. We want to make use of this fantastic environment in our academic curriculum and our SEMH support strategies and intervention.
