Our new SEMH
nurture provision, Shortenills Abbey, opened in April 2024 and currently offers
3 secondary SEMH classes, with 8 students per class.
Our existing
SEMH provision, Shortenills, opened in Chalfont St Giles in 2021, for students
with EHCPs for social, emotional and mental health difficulties. Due to
increasing demand, we were proud to open our new site in Aylesbury which
follows the model developed by our existing Shortenills provision.
We believe that
young people with SEMH difficulties need and deserve a loving, nurturing
approach, clear and high expectations of their behaviour, social development
and academic work, and carefully planned support and intervention that enables
them to meet and exceed those expectations.
Our aim is to
further develop a provision where children and young people learn to manage
their SEMH difficulties in school, and in the world, and where they are enabled
to study a broad and balanced curriculum, and create exciting and fulfilling
futures for themselves.
