Shine Learning & Training Centre is an Alternative Provision supporting children and young people from KS2 to KS4 who may find mainstream education challenging due to SEMH needs, SEND, anxiety, trauma, emotionally based school avoidance, disrupted education or other barriers to learning.

We believe that education should never be one-size-fits-all. Our approach combines high-quality teaching, strong relationships and personalised support to help young people re-engage with learning, build confidence and achieve meaningful success.

At Shine, we provide a safe, nurturing and structured environment where students feel valued, understood and supported. We place equal importance on academic achievement, emotional wellbeing, personal development and preparation for future pathways. Success is not measured solely through qualifications, but also through improvements in attendance, engagement, communication, resilience, independence and self-belief.

Our curriculum combines formal and informal learning opportunities, including Functional Skills in Maths and English, personal development, employability skills, enrichment activities and therapeutic-informed approaches. 

Our staff are trained in trauma-informed practice and work relationally to support students who may have experienced adversity, disrupted education or challenges with regulation and engagement. We are committed to creating a culture where every young person feels safe, respected and empowered to reach their potential.
