About Settlebeck School

OUR VISION, VALUES & ETHOS

Achievement for all – transforming lives through learning by supporting the development of our young people so that they become happy, confident individuals who can make a positive contribution to society and become the best versions of themselves.

We aim to achieve this by creating a culture:

  • where students learn and achieve within an inclusive ethos of respect, aspiration, and responsibility;
  • which values the individual whilst embracing collective responsibility;
  • which empowers our students to value the knowledge and skills that will support them as lifelong learners;
  • which provides challenge, both academically and personally;
  • where success is fostered and celebrated;
  • built on warm relationships between every member of our community.

The values that guide us at Settlebeck School are:

                                                                                                                 RESPECT

We expect all members of our school community to respect others, their views, cultures, and differences. This creates a sense of belonging for all, where everyone feels valued;

                                                                                                         RESPONSABILITY

We understand our responsibility and strive to provide the best educational experiences for our young people and we aim to develop within our students responsibility for self, others, and community.

                                                                                                                ASPIRATION

We are fiercely ambitious on behalf of all our students and expect them to aspire to be  the best versions of themselves.

WELCOME FROM THE HEADTEACHER

Settlebeck School is a vibrant, happy school which has proudly served its community for 75 years. Our small ‘family feel’ environment means our young people are treated as individuals, their aspirations and needs are understood allowing us to tailor our approach accordingly.  At our heart, our vision ‘Achievement for all – transforming lives through learning alongside our values of Respect, Responsibility and Aspiration underpin everything we do.  We believe that all students should learn to be the best version of themselves, so that they leave school after five years as happy, caring, and knowledgeable young people ready to contribute as global citizens.

Our culture, built on warm relationships, where students learn and achieve within an inclusive ethos that values the individual while embracing collective responsibility, enables our truly comprehensive intake to successfully develop the knowledge and skills they need to thrive. We are proud of our designation as a Resourced Provision for autism and we believe that with the right educational environment and support every child can develop, make progress, and feel success.

We ensure students have access to a wide range of educational opportunities, both academic and extracurricular, that prepare them for their future and open their prospects for further development. We are proud to give our students authentic experiences that excite and interest them.

We understand that our staff are our greatest asset and as a result developing our staff is a key priority. We are open, supportive, and flexible with high-quality professional development opportunities to enable you to develop the knowledge and skills to support our young people and to prepare you for the next stage in your career whatever that may be.

Our school is a fantastic place to work, and you will benefit from supportive colleagues, a strong leadership team with a range of experience, a supportive Trust, engaged parents and students; and a very warm and welcoming school.

We are ambitious about our next steps and hope you choose to be part of that improvement journey, and I look forward to welcoming you to our school.
