About this Role

We are seeking a Therapy Assistant at Serenity School Coulsdon to join our team and be part of an amazing school community.

We require Therapy Assistants who have a real passion for making a difference to work alongside our MDT, a service, which offers a range of therapies for young people with social, emotional, and mental health illness.

Working alongside our Therapy teams, you will provide comprehensive occupational therapy assessments to support service users to build a brighter future.

At Serenity School we are dedicated to meeting the academic, therapeutic, and vocational needs of our students. Our mission is to raise the standard of educational support offered to vulnerable young people in the UK and our aim is to create, adapt, and implement functional curricula necessary to meet the diverse individual needs of our student population and increase current and future independence. We keep the team around the child, and you will be supported throughout every placement by our team of SEN / SEND Support Specialists.

This post is suitable for someone with demonstrable experience of working within healthcare, social care or education.

Our MDT colleagues play an important part in contributing to the development and delivery of the broader school curriculum. MDT colleagues include, Occupational Therapist, Speech and Language Therapist, Counsellors i.e., Physiotherapists, Art Therapists, Play Therapists and Lego Therapists.

About the Role

You will work closely with our Speech and Language Therapists, teachers and families to help pupils achieve the outcomes in their EHCPs. This includes:

  • Working 1:1 and in small groups

  • Modelling strategies to staff

  • Supporting learning, routines, transitions and behaviour

  • Creating therapy resources

  • Monitoring and reporting progress

About You

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has a degree in Psychology or a related field

  • Has experience working with children or young people, ideally with SEN

  • Communicates well and builds positive relationships

  • Is organised, calm, flexible and confident using ICT

  • Understands safeguarding and is committed to pupil wellbeing
