The Kitchen Assistant will support the School Chef/Cook in the day-to-day operation of the school kitchen, helping to ensure meals are prepared and served in a safe, hygienic, and efficient environment. The role involves assisting with food preparation, maintaining kitchen cleanliness, and supporting general kitchen operations to ensure the smooth running of the catering provision for pupils and staff.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
• Supporting the School Chef/Cook with day-to-day kitchen operations and food preparation tasks
• Assisting with basic food preparation including washing, peeling, chopping, and preparing ingredients
• Supporting the serving and presentation of meals where required
• Cleaning kitchen equipment, utensils, dishes, and food preparation areas
• Maintaining high standards of kitchen hygiene and cleanliness in line with food safety requirements
• Assisting with receiving, storing, and organising food deliveries and kitchen supplies
• Supporting stock rotation and checking food dates to maintain food safety standards
• Working collaboratively with kitchen staff to ensure smooth and efficient kitchen operations

Previous experience in a kitchen, catering, or food service environment is desirable but not essential.
