Serenity School Old Palace Croydon is seeking to appoint a dedicated, organised and passionate Assistant SENDCo to join our supportive and collaborative team.

Serenity School Old Palace Croydon is a specialist educational setting that provides a safe, nurturing and structured environment for pupils with a wide range of SEND. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced practitioner to support the SENDCo in leading and developing high-quality SEND provision across the school. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting staff, pupils and families, ensuring that pupils with additional needs receive effective, targeted and inclusive support.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Supporting the SENDCo in leading and developing provision for pupils with SEND
• Assisting with the implementation of inclusive teaching and learning strategies across the school
• Supporting the development and monitoring of pupil profiles, intervention plans and provision maps
• Monitoring pupil progress and using data to identify and support pupils who require additional intervention
• Working collaboratively with teaching staff to ensure high-quality, adaptive teaching for pupils with SEND
• Liaising with parents/carers and external professionals to support positive outcomes for pupils
• Supporting the coordination of access arrangements and SEND processes across the school
• Deputising for the SENDCo where appropriate

Person Specification

We are looking for someone who:

• Is passionate about inclusion and supporting pupils with SEND to achieve their full potential
• Has relevant experience working with children and young people with additional needs
• Demonstrates a strong understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and inclusive practice
• Has excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills
• Is able to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, parents/carers and external agencies
• Is resilient, proactive and able to work effectively as part of a team
• Is committed to safeguarding, equality and pupil wellbeing
