SCOTT MEDICAL AND HEALTHCARE COLLEGE 

Our school provides a high-quality learning experience for all children with highly structured lessons which allow children to gain confidence in their subjects and excel in their exams. These are supplemented by work experience, an excellent ‘preparation for examinations’ programme, and a wealth of extracurricular activities.

Opportunities are sought to provide real world experiences tailored to the medical profession, including a daily reading programme where young people broaden their knowledge about the sector through fiction and non-fiction texts, and our daily ethics programme where they discuss health and medical articles, talks and current news. 

Guided by local healthcare employers, we offer a range of academic and vocational qualifications at levels 2 and 3, including GCSE’s in separate sciences, psychology, sports science and health and social care at Key Stage 4, and A-levels and level 3 vocational qualifications at Key Stage 5 including triple health & social care. 

All students follow our ‘futures’ curriculum which includes masterclasses, opportunities for additional healthcare qualifications, workshops and visits. 

Students are acknowledged for their contribution to the life of the college, as well as their involvement in local and national opportunities, as part of the character curriculum.

Crucially, we offer work placements linked directly to employment opportunities in the medical and healthcare sector. Our Sixth Form students spend one day a week in placement, KS4 students have an opportunity to prepare for work placement and work experience. 

Our students gain a broad range of employability, life and character building skills and we expect our students to progress onto university, further training, apprenticeships and into employment after completing their studies at Scott college.
