Salford City Academy is a secondary school in Eccles, Salford, catering for pupils aged 11-16 years.
We are a thriving and ambitious academy where pupils feel happy, safe and excited to learn. Recognised by Ofsted (2022) as a Good school, inspectors noted that pupils are polite, respectful, and proud of their community. As one of the top-performing schools in Salford for progress, with rising outcomes and strong achievement in English and maths, we are determined to become one of the highest‑performing schools in the North West.
Our vision is simple yet powerful: to provide an excellent education that brings out the very best in every young person, equipping them with the knowledge, character and skills they need for future success. Through a rich academic and character education, alongside a Student Charter that offers leadership, cultural and career opportunities for all, we are creating a school where aspiration thrives and where staff can play a transformative role in shaping bright, confident futures.
The academy is part of United Learning’s cluster in Salford, working closely with neighbouring schools Irlam and Cadishead Academy, The Albion Academy and The Lowry Academy. This collaboration allows us to share expertise, access to joint services, and enrich the educational experience for all.
For staff, this means joining a forward-thinking, caring and aspirational community – one where your talent is valued, your development is prioritised and your work makes a real difference every day.
We also play an important role within the wider Eccles community through our Community Hub, launched in 2024. The Hub supports families and local residents through initiatives such as Stay and Play, Brookhouse in Bloom, community Iftars, the Family Festival, and the Senior Citizens’ Christmas Dinner.
The school continues to benefit from sustained investment in its facilities, including expanded and refurbished learning and social spaces, ensuring pupils and staff enjoy an environment in which they can thrive.
At Salford City Academy, our staff culture is defined by recognition, development, and a deep sense of belonging – something we proudly call TeamSCA. We celebrate and reward the hard work of our colleagues through regular appreciation events, wellbeing initiatives and a supportive, collaborative environment where everyone feels valued. We are equally committed to helping every member of staff grow, offering high-quality CPD, tailored coaching and clear pathways for career progression across both teaching and support roles.
Salford City Academy is situated in Eccles, Salford, at the heart of a vibrant and supportive community. With excellent transport links, including nearby rail and bus routes and proximity to major motorways, the Academy is easily accessible from across Salford, Manchester and beyond.
Our growing pupil numbers in recent years have driven significant investment in the site, creating a modern, state-of-the-art learning environment. Colleagues can relax in our dedicated dining space, designed as a calm, contemporary area for staff and pupils to unwind. For those keen to keep active, the SCA Fitness Centre offers a fully equipped 57-station gym with a wide range of aerobic, resistance and free-weight equipment, alongside multiple screens and a high-quality sound system – all conveniently located on site.
