'' Pupils are happy
and safe at this welcoming school. It is a positive and ambitious place to
learn'' Ofsted- May 2024
Queensmead Primary
Academy opened its doors in November 2012 as the first primary academy in
Leicester City sponsored by the Greenwood Academies Trust (formerly known
as the Greenwood Dale Foundation Trust) . Greenwood Academies
Trust (GAT) currently has 37 academies educating over 18,000 pupils across
seven local authority areas including Nottingham City, Nottinghamshire,
Leicester City, West Northamptonshire, North Northamptonshire, Peterborough,
and Lincolnshire.
Working within our
Trust means that we can support each other by sharing good
practice as well as developing effective collaboration both
within our own region and across the wider Trust. As part of Leicester City
Local Authority, we are proud to link with our neighbouring schools as
well as those further afield in the city.
"Adults are
aspirational for what children can achieve" Ofsted - May 2024
The Academy serves a
long-standing local community in the Braunstone area of Leicester. We
continually seek ways to involve parents and the local community in the daily
life of our Academy and in children's learning. Our friendly, dedicated
staff are committed to ensuring that our pupils are provided with the best
possible start to their educational journey. Over the last few years, our
incredible pupils have achieved results that significantly exceed national
expectations - we are so very proud of them and the amazing progress they
make.
"The school's
ambition for all pupils to achieve their very best shines out of this school in
every direction" Ofsted - May 2024
Our spacious building
and extensive grounds offer some of the best facilities children and parents
could wish for; we strive to continually improve and update these spaces to
meet the changing needs of our learners. We have designated spaces to support our
broad, wide-ranging curriculum and co-curriculum offer. These include: Forest
School spaces, an outdoor amphitheatre, drama and performance studio, a
soundproof music room as well as a library which rightly places reading at the
heart of our Academy.
''The school itself is
a vast canvas of high-quality displays that showcase creative and academic
achievements'' Ofsted -May 2025
As a UNICEF Rights
Respecting School, our co-curriculum is designed to promote and encourage high
aspirations for our pupils. Pupils here benefit from a myriad of
experiences and opportunities designed to support them as local, national and
global citizens with a life-long love of learning. Recognition for these
opportunities is captured by the Qualities of Queensmead website
pages and reflected in the numerous and diverse range of awards and
accreditations we have achieved.
''The wider
opportunities the school provides for pupils are extensive and innovative.
" Ofsted - May 2025
We
continually strive for high attainment and progress for all our pupils
alongside their personal development, creating memorable moments which will
support them into their bright futures. We are proud
to prioritise supportive and caring relationships where individuals
are respected, and differences celebrated.
"Pupils'
behaviour and their attitudes to learning are excellent. They are proud of the
respectful relationships they have towards each other" Ofsted - May 2025
''They are a united
and extended family'' Ofsted - May 2025
