Port Isaac Academy is a vibrant and inclusive learning community located in the picturesque fishing village of Port Isaac. Our school motto ‘kara dyski’ is the Cornish translation of ‘love learning’ and reflects a deep pride in our Cornish heritage. It embodies our commitment to nurturing a lifelong love for knowledge in our children.  We encourage them to embrace every learning opportunity with enthusiasm and curiosity.

The academy’s five values were decided by the pupils and staff at Port Isaac, placing them at the heart of our school culture. They are: aspiration, community, respect, resilience and joy.

At Port Isaac Academy, we value the strong connections between pupils, parents, staff, and the wider community, creating a supportive network that enhances learning. We are proud of our close ties with the local community that help to promote a sense of belonging. The school is well supported by The Doc Martin fund and has close ties with The Fisherman’s Friends, who call Port Isaac home. It has an active and dedicated PTA who organise community fundraising events throughout the year.

The academy has a well-stocked library that encourages a love for reading and outdoor spaces designed for play, exploration, and environmental education. Pupils regular visit the beach to extend learning beyond the classroom.

Port Isaac Academy joined Cornwall Education Learning Trust in June 2023 and is on a rapid improvement journey. Progress continues to be positive and impactful. This rapid improvement is the result of a shared commitment from our dedicated staff, enthusiastic pupils, and supportive families.
