About Poltair School

Poltair School is now one of the highest performing schools in terms of progress 8 within Cornwall, it provides a truly unique and exemplary provision for families in the St. Austell area. This has been a rapid transformation since joining Cornwall Education Learning Trust, from a school that was once one of the worst performing in Cornwall.

Poltair has a wide catchment area and serves areas of significant deprivation, the disadvantaged cohort is significantly higher than National average and the second highest in Cornwall. It hosts a high number of children in care and is one of the highest providers to children with EHCPs.

The most recent inspection in February 2024, judged the school as Good for Quality of Education, Outstanding for Behaviour and Attitudes, Outstanding for Personal Development and Outstanding for Leadership and Management. It highlighted the school’s high expectations for it’s students and their futures and also how proud the staff are of their school. Poltair School is continuing on its journey, as the school never rests with its ambition for the children and community it serves.

The extremely strong positive culture within the school is built on the highest of expectations and the fundamental belief that school should be a happy place where students feel safe and secure.
