About Ormiston Queensmill Academy
Ormiston Queensmill Academy is a well-established autism
specific school. Although our primary mission is to educate a large and mixed
cohort of autistic children and young people in order to offer them the best
outcome possible, Ormiston Queensmill is more than a school.
At Queensmill, although we acknowledge the complex needs
which are associated with autism, we celebrate our pupils’ differences and
uniqueness and we put our children and young people at the centre of our
practice. We believe that when autistic children and young people are supported
to develop skills in social communication and in sensory/ emotional regulation,
they will flourish in other aspects of their life and education.
We are also committed to a multi-professional approach
around the child or young person. The team includes class staff, in-house
school therapists, parents and external professionals such as social and key
workers.
Ormiston Queensmill Academy is a fun place to work, where
happiness and wellbeing is an absolute priority for both our young people and
staff team. We are looking to appoint staff that are interested in Autism and
passionate about supporting autistic pupils to access education both within the
school and in the local community. We are looking for individuals who are
flexible, empathetic, creative, resilient and eager to learn. We offer a
supportive, friendly and dynamic culture within the organisation.
Staff at Queensmill are highly trained in autism and we commit a significant proportion of our annual budget to training and maintaining staff knowledge and resources so that children and young people with autism learn in an environment that understands and is suited to them.
