About Oakridge School

We are a successful and forward–looking school, seeking all the time to improve and progress.  There will always be change as we endeavour to strive for excellence in all things, but the overall aims of the school and the development of the people in it remain constant.

We aim to provide a happy, secure and stimulating learning environment where high moral values are embraced by all.  Working together we will nurture individuality, provide challenge, develop self-esteem and promote respect for each other, enabling children to grow into confident, responsible and compassionate young people with high aspirations for the future.

‘We feel part of the Oakridge family’ – Parent

‘I have grown here as a person’ – Year 6 Child

‘This school is unrecognisable in terms of the progress it has made in recent years.’ – Governor

‘The children and staff make this school a wonderful place to work’ – Staff member

‘The commitment your staff have to the children of Oakridge, sends a shiver down my spine’ - School Improvement Advisor

These are the comments by a number of different people associated with Oakridge School and it is these words that sum up why the Oakridge School community is a fantastic community to be part of. We are one community and we work together to transform the life chances of all our children. We are guided by a common set of school values:

     Kindness

     Respect

     Perseverance

     Integrity

We are a school that caters for children from Nursery up to Year 6. We have two classes per year group, which means we have approximately 470 pupils attending the school. We are extremely proud of the diverse and inclusive nature of the school and we welcome everybody.

Our curriculum, whilst following the National Curriculum, is designed especially for Oakridge School. Through the school’s ‘Golden Threads’ our curriculum is ambitious and fit for purpose in the 21st century.  It is designed to give Oakridge children the knowledge, skills and understanding needed to succeed in life.  It takes into account the needs of individuals in order to achieve our core purpose.

The core purpose of our school is to transform the life chances of all our children.’ –- (January 2020)

Together, we have an unrelenting ambition to improve and drive the school forward. Together we work hard to ensure that all pupils make good progress at the school, not just academically but personally and socially as well. Our motto is ‘Working together to succeed.’

I am incredibly proud to be Headteacher of Oakridge School. The commitment shown by staff and governors to make a difference to children’s lives is truly inspirational. We have supportive parents and truly wonderful children who enjoy being at school. Together we make up the Oakridge family.
