Motcombe CE Primary School is a successful village school surrounded by beautiful North Dorset countryside and situated between the towns of Gillingham and Shaftesbury.

The school is centred around the original Victorian school building with the addition of a modern well equipped school hall and seven classrooms.  All classrooms are well resourced with easy access to a number of outdoor learning environments.

There are extensive grounds including an good sized playground, astro-turf, adventure playground, a small games area, a netball court, an outdoor stage, a spiritual garden, Motcombe Mile track, as well as an outdoor classroom area. The school owns a large field which is used for football, running, tag rugby, athletics and summer games. Our children have lots of opportunities to play competitive sports and take part in festivals and galas against other schools, which they very much enjoy.

The school offers an experienced and dedicated staff who are all committed to providing the best possible education for all pupils whilst developing the talents and abilities of the ‘whole child’. Our creative approach to the curriculum starts from the child to provide meaningful and exciting learning opportunities whilst ensuring high standards through high expectations. To enhance the learning experiences of our pupils we provide a range of extra-curricular activities both at lunchtime and after school, individual and group music tuition and a range of cluster activities in partnership with our other local schools.

At Motcombe Primary School we strive to promote the values of our Christian faith throughout daily life and take pride in our Christian ethos. Our strong partnerships with the church and local community enhance children’s knowledge and understanding of our faith. It is these values that we hope our children will take with them into their future lives.
