About Lord Williams's School

Lord Williams’s School is a thriving, co-educational secondary school with a strong sense of community and a reputation for excellence in education. We serve a wide catchment area, with students from Thame and the surrounding towns and villages. The school is split across 2 sites with Years 7 - 9 at Lower School and Years 10 - 13 on our Upper School site. There are over 2300 students on roll, including 540 in Sixth Form. Our diverse curriculum includes a broad range of subjects, from STEM to the humanities, and we offer extensive opportunities for enrichment, extracurricular activities, and student leadership.

We take pride in offering a supportive environment where students are encouraged to develop academically, socially, and personally. Our talented and dedicated staff work hard to foster a love of learning, a respect for others, and a strong sense of responsibility within our students. Lord Williams's School is committed to helping new and beginning teachers embark on their career with confidence.  We are a strategic partner school in the Oxfordshire Teaching Schools Alliance (OTSA) and through this, we employ and train new teachers on both the Salaried and Non-Salaried SCITT programmes.  We have supported training teachers on these programmes in a number of subjects including Mathematics, English and PE.  All training teachers on these routes have a reduced timetable and mentor support.

We have a strong partnership with Oxford University and work with it's Department of Educational Studies to support their PGCE programme.  We provide placements for interns in a variety of subjects including Maths, Languages, Science and Humanities.  We work closely with the department to provide a full programme of professional development covering topics such as AfL, Behaviour for Learning and PSHE teaching.  All interns have a mentor and have allocated time to meet with them each week.  Our faculty teams also provide valuable support to our interns.
