Reset Base Manager

Longsands Academy
Permanent | 37 hours per week
Salary: Pro Rata £29,565 – £31,326
Closing Date: 12th April

Longsands Academy is a vibrant and ambitious school committed to providing a high‑quality education for all students. As part of Astrea Academy Trust, the school prides itself on offering a supportive, inclusive, and aspirational environment where students are encouraged to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. With a strong focus on character development, positive relationships, and excellent pastoral care, Longsands Academy is dedicated to nurturing confident, responsible young people who are ready to succeed.

About the Role

We are seeking a caring, proactive, and highly organised Reset Base Manager to oversee our Reflection Room provision and play a vital role in supporting students who have been temporarily removed from mainstream lessons. This position is central to promoting positive behaviour, ensuring continuity of learning, and helping students develop the strategies and confidence needed to reintegrate successfully into their usual classroom environment.

The Reset Base Manager will supervise students, maintain a calm and structured atmosphere, and work closely with teaching staff, pastoral teams, and families. The role requires someone who can build strong, supportive relationships, provide clear guidance, and act as a positive role model at all times.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise students in the Reflection Room, ensuring continuity of learning and helping them engage with set work.
  • Liaise with Heads of Year to understand the context behind student referrals and tailor support effectively.
  • Complete relevant paperwork and track student progress, identifying those who work well and those who require additional support.
  • Uphold academy behaviour expectations, ensuring rules are followed and promoting positive attitudes and conduct.
  • Provide feedback to staff on learning activities and contribute to reports on behaviour management.
  • Use initiative to occupy and support students when work is not immediately available.
  • Deliver clear instructions to ensure students understand expectations and required tasks.
  • Support wider academy operations, including exam invigilation, administrative duties, and first aid (training provided).
  • Attend training and meetings as required, and comply with all safeguarding, health and safety, and trust policies.
  • Promote wellbeing, act as a positive role model, and demonstrate high expectations of behaviour and effort.
  • Manage time effectively and contribute positively to the wider academy ethos and Trust values.

What We’re Looking For

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Calm, confident, and resilient, with a strong commitment to supporting young people.
  • Able to build constructive relationships and communicate effectively with students, staff, and families.
  • Highly organised, proactive, and able to manage a busy and varied workload.
  • Skilled in promoting positive behaviour and able to uphold high expectations consistently.
  • Adaptable, empathetic, and able to maintain professionalism in challenging situations.
  • Committed to safeguarding, personal development, and the values of Astrea Academy Trust.
