It is my pleasure to welcome you to Leeds West Academy, a transformational place of learning at the heart of its community. A community we are proud to be a part of and proud to represent. Our transformational journey is well on the way as confirmed by our ‘Good’ Ofsted judgement in May 2019 and again following a further two day inspection in September 2023.

At Leeds West Academy, we hold the three core values of Care, Commitment and Community at the centre of all we do. These three values alongside our three simple rules, Be Ready, Be Respectful, Be Safe are our architecture for success and underpin the ambition we have for our students and our community.

As Principal of Leeds West Academy, I feel privileged to lead what is not only an amazing school but also one of the original three academies of The White Rose Academies Trust. A Trust dedicated to community transformation and with a ‘can do’ positive approach of high aspirations and ambition for the communities it serves.

Our vision for Leeds West Academy is to be an Academy that;

‘unites and inspires our community through the power of education, opportunity and inspiration to secure successful futures for the children of the west of Leeds’.

This vision is supported by our three year ‘Roadmap for Embedding Excellence’, which can be viewed here. Our vision for our community is supported by a defined mission – the actionable element to drive towards this vision. Our mission to excellence in education, transformation in opportunities and to build a school for all our community to be proud of, defines the Roadmap’s content underpinned by the commitment of all colleagues for one another, our students and our families to ‘deliver excellence for everyone’. People sit at the heart of our Academy. Our students, our staff, our families, and our partners are all invited to join us in our mission and upholding this commitment to realise the vision for our community.

Our staff are committed to providing an ambitious curriculum that supports exceptional futures and in making sure that every student is known, valued and supported during their time with us and beyond. The staff at Leeds West Academy are driven by professional excellence and we have a culture of high standards and the promotion of personal wellbeing and staff development, making sure that we provide for our students the very best education whilst supporting our colleagues in making this happen.
