We are a vibrant and diverse selective boy’s school for Year 7-11 with a large and active co-educational sixth form that impacts positively on the culture within school. Our vision is that we are a happy and successful school. But what does this look like in practice? We place people at the heart of all we do and we understand that having a sense of belonging allows people to flourish. We invest energy in ensuring that staff and students know that they matter, that their voice is heard, and that they can and should achieve their very best. 

Our ethos is that we do things the right way. We listen to each other even if we have different points of view, we talk to each other respectfully and we always act considerately.

Our aim is that all students find joy at school and that this leads them to achieve well academically. Staff are encouraged, and given the freedom, to innovate. Professional trust is assumed and continual improvement is achieved because staff development is valued. This leads to our students achieving fantastic exam results through a curriculum that stretches them and is enriched together with a support network that ensures no-one is left behind. They are challenged to be Sheriff Learners by being curious, pro-active, resilient, reflective and organised; enabling them to confidently embrace and overcome whatever obstacles they may face.

Our pupils leave Lawrence Sheriff School as curious thinkers who have the confidence, skills and sense of social responsibility to make a positive contribution to the communities they join. All enabled by our fantastic team of staff.
