About Kirkby Stephen Grammar School
Kirkby Stephen Grammar School is a successful and continually improving 11-18 school, set in a beautiful landscape of Kirkby Stephen. Our roll is currently about 350 students, with around 60 in the sixth form. We are a small school by design and our small size enables the staff to get to know every child individually. Knowing the students, their strengths, interests, where they need to be stretched and where they may need extra support means that we can tailor their school experience and ensure they reach their potential.
We set challenging targets for ourselves and for all students, whatever their ability. Our examination results are improving at all levels and we continue to develop and improve our curriculum offer. With a highly qualified and stable teaching and support staff, we offer a high quality education to every pupil in the school.
We excel at sport and enrich the experience of our students through a range of opportunities, as well as supporting those students with special needs effectively. We are well known for the amazing range of extra-curricular activities that we offer in music, drama, educational trips (local, national and international) and visits. KSGS is the hub school for the Eden Valley School Sport Partnership, which is developing sport and PE in all five secondary and thirty primary schools across the Eden Valley.
