King Edward VI Aston School
About King Edward VI Aston School
A selective school for boys, the school opened in 1883 and is still located on its original site, in the Aston area of Birmingham. The original buildings are still in regular use, but there have been significant alterations and extensions
As with all of our schools, Aston has the highest expectations of its students. Currently Aston has 750 boys with 250 of those in the Sixth Form. All Aston students are expected to be articulate, well-educated young men, capable of independent thought with the confidence to face future challenges. We also expect students to leave Aston knowing the value of integrity and the importance of tolerance.
Historically Aston proudly boasts three Lord Mayors of Birmingham: Sir Ernest Canning, Sir Joseph Balmer, and Sir Neville Bosworth, while today the school has built on its proud sporting traditions and their facilities, recently enhanced by Olympic Legacy Funding, have also fostered special relationships with local schools and community groups in the area.
