Volunteering at Sweatbox Youth Centre
Sweatbox is a youth centre, supporting young people aged 11 - 18 years old in the OX12 area. As part of the Cambrian Learning Trust, we operate as an ‘arms-length’ organisation, supporting young people across the community, not just those from Cambrian schools.
We are based in Wantage and we run a varied programme of groups and activities throughout the week across 2 locations (King Alfred's Centre Site and on Kingsgrove development in Wantage). We are looking for adult volunteers to join our fun and supportive team. Becoming a Volunteer Youth Support Worker, you will attend Youth Club sessions, supporting the Youth Worker team at one or more of the youth clubs we run.
Some sessions are in the
evenings, some are after school. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a
difference to the young people in our community, and to support our community
in providing the young people with a safe place to socialise, develop and learn
social and emotional skills. You can develop your own skills and experiences
and feel part of a vital service that really makes a positive impact on so many
families in our community.
Skills
You'll Need:
Empathy, caring and a genuine approach to young people and other volunteers and
staff.
You
will receive support, training and guidance through this role.
King Alfred's Academy & Cambrian Learning Trust are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children and preventing extremism. We expect all staff and volunteers to share in this commitment. All post holders in regulated activity are subject to appropriate vetting procedures and a satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Enhanced Check. Shortlisted candidates will be subject to online searches for publicly available information.
Cambrian Learning Trust is an equal opportunities employer and we welcome applications from a range of backgrounds to represent diversity in line with our school’s community.
