Headteachers Welcome
Welcome to King’s Academy Northern Parade. I am delighted to introduce our academy and share what makes it such a special place to work, learn and belong.
King’s Academy Northern Parade brings together our Infant academy and Junior academy, working closely as one community to support children from Reception through to Year 6. This joined-up approach allows us to provide consistency, strong relationships and a smooth learning journey for our pupils, while also creating a collaborative and supportive environment for staff.
We serve a diverse community, including a significant number of Service children and families. We understand the unique experiences and challenges that can come with service life, including mobility, parental deployment and transition. As a result, we place a strong emphasis on nurture, stability and pastoral support, ensuring that all children feel safe, valued and ready to learn.
For staff, King’s Academy Northern Parade is a welcoming and inclusive place to work, where teamwork, professional trust and wellbeing are genuinely prioritised. We work collaboratively across both the Infant and Junior phases, sharing expertise and supporting one another to deliver the very best outcomes for our children.
I am incredibly proud to lead King’s Academy Northern Parade and look forward to welcoming colleagues who share our commitment to inclusive, high-quality primary education.

About Our Academy
King’s Academy Northern Parade is a 4–11 primary academy in Portsmouth, made up of an Infant academy and a Junior academy working closely together on one site. This structure enables us to provide a coherent, nurturing and ambitious educational experience from early years through to Key Stage 2.
The academy is part of King’s Group Academies, benefiting from the strength, expertise and shared values of a Trust with over 40 years’ experience of delivering high-quality education in the UK and internationally.
Both the Infant and Junior academies have been inspected by Ofsted in recent years.
Across both academies, Ofsted recognised a strong culture of care, positive behaviour and effective safeguarding. Leadership at all levels was praised for driving improvement while ensuring that staff feel supported, valued and able to manage workload effectively.
King’s Academy Northern Parade serves a diverse local community, including a high proportion of Service families. This shapes our approach to pastoral care and transition, with a strong emphasis on nurture, stability and consistency to support children who may experience change or mobility.
What Makes Us Unique
King’s Academy Northern Parade is an academy where children are truly known as individuals. Pastoral care is a key strength, with a strong focus on emotional wellbeing, resilience and readiness to learn. This is particularly important for our Service children, who are supported through thoughtful transition planning, regular check-ins and close partnership with families.
Our Infant and Junior academies work in close partnership, providing children with a coherent learning journey and allowing staff to collaborate across phases. This offers opportunities for professional growth, shared practice and a deep understanding of pupil progression from early years to Year 6.
We offer an ambitious and inclusive curriculum that prioritises strong foundations in reading, writing and mathematics, while also ensuring pupils experience a rich and balanced curriculum. Learning is designed to inspire curiosity, creativity and confidence, helping children to develop a genuine love of learning.
We believe that children thrive when staff feel supported and valued. Leaders are committed to creating a positive working culture where workload is considered carefully, professional development is encouraged and staff wellbeing is taken seriously.
