A Personal Introduction to Our Academy
Welcome to King's Academy Lord Wilson. As Headteacher, I am immensely proud to lead a high-performing specialist
institution that provides an exceptional education for boys aged 11–16 with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
At the heart of our practice is a commitment to "opportunity and success on a global stage," grounded in our core values of Honesty, Faith, and Courage. Culturally, our staff can expect a highly collaborative and supportive environment.

About Our Academy
A Snapshot of Who We Are
Phase and Age Range: We are a specialist secondary academy serving boys between the ages of 11 and 16.
Size: Our academy currently provides a bespoke education for 64 pupils.
Defining Characteristics: As one of only three specialist SEMH academies in Hampshire, we offer a unique therapeutic pedagogy. We are a high-performing school with a 'Good' Ofsted rating, and our 2025 GCSE results placed us in the top 1% of special schools nationally.
King’s Group Academies: We are a proud member of King's Group Academies (KGA), a multi-academy trust committed to educational excellence. Being part of this trust allows our staff to collaborate and tap into wider resources across the MAT while remaining dedicated to our specialist mission.
What Makes Us Unique
Innovation in Learning and Development
Bespoke Emotional Framework: We use a ‘regulation roadmap’ and a ‘pupil passport’ system to empower students to
build self-regulation skills. We have shifted our culture toward relational and restorative dialogue rather than punitive consequences.
Instructional Coaching: Our staff development is driven by a sophisticated instructional coaching system using the "Walkthrus" model and "ADAPT" process. This ensures granular, sustained improvement tailored to the complex needs of SEMH education.
Commitment to Growth: We invest heavily in our own talent, dedicating 90 minutes of weekly CPD time to staff. Over 80% of our staff are currently engaged in university-level study or National Professional Qualifications (NPQs).
About Our Community
Rooted in Hampshire
We are located in Hampshire and the majority of our pupils travel to us by taxi each day. We position ourselves as a ‘first-choice placement’ for families whose children have SEMH needs and have not succeeded in traditional school settings.
We engage deeply with our local community by acting as a hub for shared value. By training our staff in specialised mental health support, we create a resource that strengthens the local educational ecosystem. Our partnerships are built on a co-creation of value, working closely with parents, providers, and the Local Authority during EHCP reviews to ensure our pupils are viewed not by their "labels," but as capable "overcomers" and future citizens on a global stage.
Why Work With Us?
A Values-Driven Community: Be part of a culture built on honesty, faith, and courage.
Global Vision, Local Roots: Make an impact locally while connecting to a global network of opportunities.
Collaborative Culture: Work with colleagues who share ideas, celebrate success, and innovate together.
Strong Support: Benefit from the clarity, consistency, and backing of a trusted leadership and governance structure.
Together, we’ll create opportunities, transform lives, and redefine what’s possible.
