About King's Academy College Park (Infant)

Headteacher’s Welcome

Welcome to King’s Academy College Park. I am delighted to introduce our academy and share what makes College Park a rewarding and purposeful place to work.

King’s Academy College Park brings together our Infant academy and Junior academy, working as one community to support children from Reception through to Year 6. This joined-up approach allows us to provide consistency, strong relationships and a smooth educational journey for our pupils, while also creating a collaborative and supportive working environment for staff.

We serve a diverse community in Portsmouth and are proud of the inclusive, caring culture that runs through our academy. Our Dragon Behaviours – Resilience, Responsibility, Independence, Challenge, Teamwork, Creativity and Kindness – are embedded in daily life and underpin everything we do. Alongside this, we hold high expectations for all members of our community, ensuring that every child feels safe, valued and supported to achieve their very best.

For staff, King’s Academy College Park is an academy where teamwork matters. We work collaboratively across phases, support one another professionally and are committed to continuous improvement. Leaders place strong emphasis on staff wellbeing and development, recognising that supported staff make the greatest difference to children’s lives.

I am proud to lead King’s Academy College Park and look forward to welcoming colleagues who share our commitment to high-quality primary education and strong community values.

Kind regards,

Rachel Carlyle
Headteacher, King’s Academy College Park

About Our Academy

King’s Academy College Park is a 4–11 primary academy in Portsmouth, made up of an Infant academy and a Junior academy working together on one site. This structure enables pupils to experience a coherent, nurturing and ambitious education from early years through to the end of primary.

The academy is part of King’s Group Academies, benefiting from the support and expertise of a trust with over 40 years’ experience of delivering high-quality education in the UK and internationally.

Both academies have been inspected by Ofsted in recent years:

The Junior academy was inspected in November 2024, with inspectors judging the quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development, and leadership and management all as Good. Inspectors noted high expectations for pupils and staff, a calm and positive culture for learning, and a clearly sequenced curriculum that is supporting improving outcomes.

The Infant academy was inspected in November 2023 and judged Good overall, with Good judgements across quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development, leadership and management, and early years provision. Inspectors described a vibrant, happy and safe academy, underpinned by strong values, positive behaviour and engaging teaching.

Across both academies, Ofsted recognised effective safeguarding, positive relationships between staff and pupils, and leadership that is focused on improvement while being mindful of staff workload and wellbeing.

Staff at King’s Academy College Park benefit from working in an academy where collaboration across Infant and Junior phases is encouraged, professional development is prioritised and a strong sense of shared purpose underpins academy life.

A caring and inclusive culture

King’s Academy College Park is an academy where children are known as individuals and relationships are central. Pastoral care is a strength across both academies, ensuring pupils feel safe, supported and ready to learn. This inclusive ethos is reflected in the calm learning environments and positive behaviour recognised by Ofsted.

Infant and Junior academies working together

Our Infant and Junior academies operate as one community, providing pupils with continuity and staff with opportunities to collaborate across phases. This supports strong curriculum progression and allows staff to share expertise, practice and ideas.

We offer an ambitious and well-sequenced curriculum that builds strong foundations in reading, writing and mathematics, alongside a rich wider curriculum. Pupils benefit from a range of enrichment opportunities, leadership roles and experiences beyond the classroom, supporting their personal development and confidence.
