Our Mission and Vision

At Killisick Junior School, our mission is simple yet ambitious: to continuously seek excellence in every aspect of education and personal development. We are committed to nurturing an environment where every individual—students and staff alike—feels happy, safe, respected, and valued. This mission drives us to create an inclusive atmosphere that embraces the diversity of our students and their unique qualities.

We hold high expectations for everyone who walks through our doors. From our children to our staff, we celebrate each achievement, no matter how big or small. Our school values—respect, pride, confidence, responsibility, aspiration, perseverance, creativity, and enjoyment—serve as guiding principles that shape our daily interactions and experiences. These values empower us to create a positive and supportive learning environment, encouraging each child to reach their full potential.

Recognised Excellence

We are proud to announce that we have maintained our high standards during our recent OFSTED inspection in October 2024, where we were judged as a good school in all areas. The inspectors noted that Killisick is a happy school, an ambitious and thriving family, and a place where pupils are well-prepared for their future endeavours. Furthermore, we are honoured to be recognised as one of the top 14 performing schools in Nottinghamshire, a testament to our commitment to educational excellence.

Our dedicated team works collaboratively to ensure that our curriculum is not only ambitious but also broad, well-sequenced, and knowledge-rich. We believe that every child deserves access to high-quality education, and we strive to provide an environment where all children can thrive, including those with special educational needs and those from disadvantaged backgrounds.

A Culture of High Expectations

At Killisick, we foster a culture of high expectations that permeates every aspect of our school life. We understand that when children are challenged and supported, they can achieve remarkable things. Our staff are committed to creating engaging learning experiences that ignite a love for learning and encourage children to take responsibility for their education.

We actively promote a love for reading, writing, and the sciences, ensuring that our children develop a genuine interest in these subjects. Our teachers employ proven instructional practices that cater to the diverse needs of our students, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to succeed. We celebrate achievements consistently, recognising the hard work and dedication of our children, which motivates them to continue striving for excellence.
