About this Role

We are seeking to appoint an inspirational Head of Mathematics to take full responsibility for the leadership of the mathematics curriculum at the College for the new academic year.  The post holder will be expected to develop a team culture that fosters collaborative working between all teaching staff in the subject, ensuring a focused commitment to the delivery of a high-quality learning experience, with excellent examination results for all students.

 

Situated within easy reach of Birmingham City Centre, we are a highly successful and vibrant College, having been graded as ‘outstanding’ in all categories once again in February 2024 by Ofsted. Our college excels in providing a broad, inclusive and high-quality education to all of our learners, which has resulted in some of the highest levels of progression to Higher Education in the sector.  In 2024, students at Joseph Chamberlain College achieved excellent exam results, as they have done for many years.

 

You will be working in a state-of-the-art building with superbly equipped classrooms and facilities and continue to grow in size due to demand. We have been featured in the Parliamentary Review for best practice in further education for the second time and we have been awarded the Teachers’ Development Trust (TDT) Silver Award for our comprehensive package of innovative and high impact professional development.

Salary: The salary for this post is paid on the Sixth Form College Teacher’s main scale up to £56,709 per annum, which includes a management allowance of £5195. An enhanced salary for an exceptional candidate may be available by negotiation.

 

Start Date: 1st September 2026. The first day of work will be Thursday 20th August 2026, and you will be expected to work from this date and will receive additional payment for this.

 

Closing date: Thursday 7th May 2026 (to arrive no later than 12 noon).
