About James Watt Primary School
On behalf of the staff and governors, we welcome you all to James Watt Primary School, whether you have been involved with the school over many years or if you are new to the James Watt family. This a good school that has built up a solid and impressive culture of respect and good values over many years. The staff take great care to provide high quality education for each pupil, based on their needs; and, overwhelmingly, the pupils treat each other with kindness and courtesy.
Our school was built in February 1972, but opened as James Watt Primary School in January 2004, following the amalgamation of James Watt Infant and Junior Schools. It is named after the famous Scottish engineer James Watt, whose factory was located near the school site. James Watt was an engineer, an inventor, a scientist, and practical problem-solver who had big ideas and brought these to life. For the people of Birmingham he did a lot of good, was ‘ahead of his time’, and made a difference.
At James Watt Primary, our vision is to prepare all pupils for lifelong learning and to equip them with the skills and knowledge to be part of our global community. We encourage them to succeed and be the best that they can be, through the exploration of new skills and experiences. We nurture resilience, curiosity and creativity, whilst promoting confident, self-motivated pupils, who are eager to learn.
