Welcome to Immanuel College!
With nearly 700 pupils in our
Preparatory School, Senior School and Sixth Form, Immanuel College provides a
Modern Orthodox education for girls and boys aged 4-18. Focussing on outstanding
individual care, strong academic results and a renowned programme of Jewish
study which complements our curriculum and activities, we are proud of our
academic results, our arts, music, drama and sport, as well as our
unforgettable educational trips. Located in Bushey, Hertfordshire, we
benefit from plenty of open leafy space and have good motorway links to the M25
and M1.
Former Chief Rabbi, Lord Immanuel
Jakobovits was famous for two apothegms: "Let my people know" and
"Let my people grow". Immanuel College is dedicated to those
aims in spirit and in practice. The future Chief Rabbi, Lord Jonathan
Sacks proposed our mission in 1988 which guides us still:
“The school will aim at the
highest standards of academic excellence in both Jewish and secular studies. It
will aim at producing students who are thoroughly at home in both contemporary
society and the full range of their Jewish heritage. It will unashamedly aim at
creating leaders in all spheres of contemporary life, individuals whose sense
of Jewish responsibility is deep and broad, encompassing identification with
the Jewish people in its totality, with Jewish history in its diversity, and
with the state of Israel in its centrality. It will promote the Jewish
traditions of principle and tolerance, intellectual depth and social concern,
loyalty and generosity, academic rigour and ethical example. It will take as
its task the projection of an Orthodox way of life and thought that earns the
admiration of others of whatever faith”
Our teachers are support staff
are skilled and caring, and highly valued. They focus on helping our
children to be the best they can be by providing a clear framework for living
and thinking. Relationships between pupils and staff are open, warm and
mutually supportive, characteristics which are also found in the wider Immanuel
College community of parents and alumni. You will join a school community
full of happy, fulfilled young people who are aspirational, active in the life
of the school and committed to their studies. Relationships between our
pupils and staff are open, warm and mutually supportive.
This combination of a high-quality
secular education and a rich Jewish experience is at the heart of the
College. We are entering a new and exciting phase of our 30-year
development plan - the College opened in 1990 - and will continue to strive for
the highest academic standards while maintaining our warmth and caring family.
